Dispute resolution on the EU “Your Europe” portal

A CUSTOMER, who is a consumer within the meaning of Section 13 German Civil Code (BGB), may, in case of disputes, carry out an online dispute resolution on the EU “Your Europe” portal (http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/index_en.htm) as from 9 January 2016 by enlisting help from a recognised dispute resolution body. The EU online dispute resolution platform URL http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/ is available to consumers for this purpose. The online dispute resolution procedure is not necessarily a precondition for appealing to competent, ordinary courts; rather, it is an alternative possibility to resolve differences that may occur within a contractual relationship.
