Lens hoods, also known as lens shades should be regarded as an essential accessory for both professionals and hobbyists. Failing to use a lens hood can have a contrast-reducing effect on the color saturation and brilliance of your image. The rubber hood is molded tightly around a metal mounting ring. Make sure that the lens hood matches the focal length of your lens. If you are using a wide-angle or zoom lens, a too narrow aperture will lead to shadowing in the corners. Unlike conventional lens hoods, the rubber hood by Heliopan can be folded down to decrease its size. This particular feature allows the rubber hood to be used with wide angle lenses.
